To build on our mission to rescue and rehab horses that are abandoned or about to be put down for financial gain, the ABM Horse Angel Program was created to give you the "Horse Angel" a way to connect with the ABM Horses! Choose the horse you would like to sponsor with your monthly donation of $25!!
Betty, a 16-year-old Thoroughbred, came to the foundation through the Sul Ross University Nutrition Study on Rehabilitating Rescue Horses. The University rescued her from the Bowie, Texas Auction House that sells horses to kill buyers. After the study, Mechelle, a longtime friend of Mike’s, purchased and then donated Betty to the foundation.
Lane Martin rescued this 20-year-old Paint twice. The first time Blue was found in Marathon, she was skin and bones. Lane asked if Blue was for sale and took her home to be rehabilitated and trained. Blue was sold to a family in El Paso and participated in the kids' playdays. Lane lost track of Blue for 8 years until she was abandoned on an area ranch. Blue Spirit was brought to the foundation with gaping wounds on her chest and legs, and she was malnourished again.
Along with Black Betty, this 16-year-old Thoroughbred came to the foundation through the Sul Ross University Nutrition Study on Rehabilitating Rescue Horses. The University rescued her from the Bowie, Texas Auction House that sells to kill buyers. Mechelle, a longtime friend of Mike’s, purchased and then donated June Bug to the foundation.
Mike Balog volunteered in the Sul Ross University Nutrition Study on Rehabilitating Rescue Horses for 6 months. The study horses were auctioned at the end of the study. When no one bid on the 16-year-old Quarter Horse, Layla Darlin', the ABM Angel Horse Foundation purchased Layla from the University. Layla was a victim of human abuse as well.
13-year-old Pepper is an Arabian/Quarter Horse donated by Jaren Stephens, an employee of the Lajitas Golf Resort. Jaren rescued Pepper in East Texas after Pepper had been involved in a horrific accident. Pepper experienced significant damage to hind quarters and has made marked improvement from both the muscle damage and human abuse.
